Dream Big Dreams

How do you imagine Nockchain and Nockapps being used in daily and community life?

example: I’m a fishing rod company. I want to sponsor a nationwide weekend fishing competition. Fisherman can take pictures on the nockapp verifying location / authenticity of the photo without it ever being possible to have their identity and favorite fishing spot be lost in a data leak.

i think it will start with the most critical high risk apps first, think power grids, critical infra. then as zkps start to commoditize and prices fall and dapp infra improves we see more casual use cases such as zkproving that your photo isn’t ai and zkp of biometrics

I’d be extremely surprised if any critical processes use NC in any capacity unless/until it has an extensive, well-proven track record. And until that time comes, pricing will most likely be driven by volume of smaller, more retail related activities. I suspect things like verifying provenance of crypto software wallet transactions and AI agents to allow access to private data will be early, tractable use cases.

I talked to a healthcare executive today who was very excited about the possibilities of ZK proofs over identity and medical records.

This was one of the things that initially drew me to Urbit. The ability to store all of your health records/history in one place that you control is a $T value proposition. Giving partial access to that info to third parties via control with ZKPs is a critical component to making the concept viable.

100%. I know of a hacking event that lost medical records. It’s beyond me that they are not end to end encrypted today. A nock application would be amazing for this.

I’d have to look up the details, but aren’t medical records all stored in some really strange format that’s basically incompatible with everything “normal”?

I’ve never heard that although I admittedly have not looked super deeply into the detailed technical aspects of it. The biggest hurdle I hear mentioned is HIPPA requirements although with ZKP and/or Urbit I think that can fairly easily be overcome. In my estimation, the biggest challenge for an actual business looking to build is convincing those wanting access to the data that it is legit/accurate.
