TOKENS CAN BE UNINTENTIONALLY BURNED DURING SPENDS IF YOU DO NOT UPDATE THE WALLET
FIX: Update to the most recent version of the
repository and run make install-nockchain-wallet
.
Shortly after the one block-month initial lock on transactions expired, we ran the first live spend between two addresses controlled by Zorp. The initial version of the wallet shipped in the Github repository prior to commit
657e358db8edcc4776fec9c2a718575c997d05b6
had the receive‑address field unset, so the leftover nocks from the spend were sent to a default burn address. The bug is confined to the wallet. The Nockchain network and transaction engine are functioning normally and no bugs were identified in the underlying consensus or transaction logic.
If you have not tried to send a transaction, your funds are unaffected. Before you make any transfers, be sure to install the latest version of the wallet using the fix instructions above. This update is a wallet‑side fix only.
Over the next week we’ll be doing additional audits and integration testing the transaction engine further. Thank you for bearing with us as we iron out these early wrinkles. We’re committed to transparency and rapid response.
